Jewellery retailer The Jewel Hut is the UK’s leading online PANDORA stockist, while also stocking brands such as Links Of London, Thomas Sabo and Gucci. Their website sits on the Magento Content Management System.

Web Design Brief

The Jewel Hut wanted to move the brand away from the multi-site solution they were using for mobile and desktop estores. Alongside this they were looking for an enhanced user experience and improve their conversion rates — while streamlining the use of visual content from the many brands they stock.

Like all of our web design projects, we took a mobile first approach with The Jewel Hut. The website is now truly responsive, allowing for optimised mobile use as well as tablet and desktop. The Jewel Hut saw a huge increase in purchases from mobile devices as a result of the redesign.

The homepage took on a fashion magazine feel that’s content rich and engaging. This ensured users could navigate to their desired category without having to use the menu, which would reduce bounce rates on mobile. The most popular functions of the website were one click away, shortening the customer journey.

The category page width was increased and each product image was enlarged. Tests showed that this style of category page led to a better conversion rate that that of a landing page.

The product page was ‘de-cluttered’, USP copy was reduced but icons were added. This increased the visibility of these important messages. Product image sizes were increased and given more space. Additions to the page were a 360 degree product view, a delivery countdown timer, upsells in ‘complete the look’ and integrated Feefo reviews. The checkout was reduced to a one page journey which increased conversions.
